By the sea - I think that's my ultimate happy place.

The sound of the waves, the feel of the sun on your skin and of sand between your toes - I don't think there's any other place that is quite so relaxing.
When I was in Ghana a few weeks ago, I was sure to savour every moment I got at the beach, to appreciate my small escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

But of course, I was always going to do so in style!

Swimwear is a tricky wardrobe area to tackle, in my book. Wearing swimwear that is both flattering and practical is so important in making me feel comfortable on the beach. I hate to feel frumpy, but too skimpy and I know I feel self-conscious and overexposed. It's the trickiest part of the pre-vacay shop up for me, and I spent hours trawling Asos, gasping in horror at bikinis cut ridiculously high, or showcasing 'extreme underboob'. The prospect of one quick wrong move resulting in a wardrobe malfunction to decimate my dignity was a worry I certainly didn't want to have.

So I ended up settling on two bikini sets, both of a similar style; one white, one blue. The 1950s 'granny pant'-esque bikini bottoms are a classic and slightly more demure option, whilst anything with a bandeau or bardot cut is one I find very flattering and trendy too.

But accessories are always the part that complete the look, and even at the beach, if you're a real fashion fan like me, you get a small confidence boost from simply feeling stylish. My boater hat was a must, but this beautiful necklace kindly gifted to me by Monica Vinader stole the show. It has just been released as part of their brand new Alta Capture Collection, an incredibly versatile range that allows one to create and customise their pieces by adding charms or additional links. This necklace was such a simple, versatile piece to have with me - one I could pair with pretty dresses for evening dinners, or denim cut offs and a white tee. I'm a sucker for a piece that has range.

My favourite way to wear it? Simply. The shiny gold links add just enough to any outfit, and I know it'll continue to be a staple in AW when paired with jumpers and midi dresses.

What are your beachwear essentials? Do you like to don some accessories too?

I of course took hundreds of photos on my holiday and can't wait to share them all on here with you, as well as writing a bit about what I got up to! Stay tuned!

Until next time,
