Now, I had to severellyyyyyy improvise with this post - and I was in two minds as to whether to upload it, since, to be frank, I'm not that happy with the images. But alas, I decided that a post was better than no post, so I bit the bullet and decided to upload anyway. I apologise for the very boring background and bad lighting, let's just say this is a throwback post paying homage to the blogging world circa 2012, shall we?

So folks, it's 2 days until NYE and, uncharacteristically of me, I already have my outfit and makeup all planned out. Yes, this last minute lass has something organised for once! You're therefore probably thinking I have some grand party plans for the evening, but nope, the last minute-ness creeps back in as I tell you I currently have no plans organise and will probably just decide on the day. Worst comes to worst, I shall be dressed to the nines, in my bougie makeup and outfit, for a night in watching the fireworks on the TV with my family. Ah, I really am living up my 20s, 2 eh?

Anyway, I thought I'd do a post showing you the NYE makeup menu, as well as the dress I plan to wear, far too dressy for an evening on the sofa, but it's my absolute fave and makes me feel like a princess, so you best believe I'll be wearing it no matter where I end up lol!

I also thought it would be cool for me to do my makeup using my favourite products from 2017 - so you have a 2017 makeup faves and a NYE look all in one!

So, without further ado, let's get into it!

So first off, when I'm doing makeup for an occasion, I always use my fanciest priming products - the ultimate complexion team of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream* and the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow*. I try to only crack these out on occasions or if my skin needs a pick me up, because they are pretty expensive, but every time I use them I remember just how much of a killer combo they are - they're pure luxury on the skin! I've already done a more extensive review in this post here, but just to reiterate, if you're look for something to splurge on - the magic cream particularly is defo worth it!

Now, foundation of the year - I've actually tried a few really good ones this year, honourable mention to the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation* and the Beauty Pie Great Skin Foundation*, butttttt the gamechanger this year has to be my Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Foundation, of course. Rih really did change the game with her brand launch. I still can't get over how amazing this foundation is! Once again, I have done a full review here, but let me just tell you, if you are super late the party and are still yet to try this stuff, then make it a priority in 2018. Not only should Rihanna be commended for the groundbreaking 40 shade first release, but the product really is worth every penny. It's always my go-to for nights out or long days, when I really need my foundation to last. It's very light on the skin, very full coverage, and fairly matte. I don't however, think it's as matte as people say (I personally find the CT magic foundation far more matte), but I truly love the finish it gives. As soon as I finish this bottle, I will absolutely be running to Harvey Nichs to get another bottle!

After applying my base, I always move on to brows, and of course, the Anastasia Beverley Hills Dip Brow Pomade continues to reign supreme. I honestly don't see another brow product ever beating this. I use the shade medium brown and apply with the Anastasia 14 Brow Brush, and then finish off with my other holy grail, the Eyeko Brow Gel. This is the ultimate combo for 'brows on fleek', ladies!

So I actually used three different palettes on my eyes to create this look, not that such was necessary, indeed, you could easily create it with just one, but purely because I've had a couple of different favourites this year. First off, I used the 9th shade (if you count from left to right) from my Morphe 25A Mocha Palette to define my crease and blend up for a transition shade. I then used shade 21 on the centre of my lid and blended it out. I then went into my Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette (yep, I'm still loving this folks!) and used the shade 'Blackmarket' on the outer corner to add more depth to the eye, making sure I carefully winged it out slightly also. I then used dagger on top of the Morphe 21 shade and the edge of blackmarket, and blended it in. To add some shimmer, I then went back into the Morphe palette and opted for the 14th brown-y shimmer shade (lorrddddd I hate that Morphe palette's don't have shade names - sort it @@@ Morphe, I doubt it costs anymore money lol!). I packed this shade onto the inner part of the lid and also swept the remainder across the whole lid, atop the other colours already used. In the inner corner I then went in the Prime shade of my Charlotte Tilbury 'The Rebel' Palette*, another favourite from this year, for a subtle highlight. To pull the whole look together, I used the 9th Morphe shade once more to smoke out my lower lash line. And voila! There you have it, a NYE smokey eye! Legit, these three palettes are all I've had on rotation this year. I must say though, I especially shocked by the Morphe palette. The other 2 retail at £39, the CT has 4 shades and the UD 12, and the Morphe retails for £19 and has 25! It's honestly amazing quality, minimal fallout and very pigmented, and I'm very impressed by the Morphe M139 blending brush, which I now use whenever I do eyeshadow! I was defo late to the party, but better late than never. In 2018 I'm definitely going to be checking out lots more Morphe!

So once the shadows are done, it's all about pulling the eye look together with bold liner and lashes. Now, have fallen completely in love with the Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick*, which is perfect if you like pen liners with a very thin tip. It comes out super black, and this is not compromised when applied atop eyeshadow, which I often find with liquid liners. The L'oreal Super Liner has been my holy grail for 3 years now, but it's had to make room for the CT liner too now; they both hold a special place in my heart! I still use the l'areal when I want a thicker wing, and then the CT for a thinner, more precise one. In terms of lashes and being a self confessed mascara snob, I was hoping this would be the year that I'd find a mascara from the drugstore that could truly rival high end ones. But alas, 2017 was not the year, and instead, I walk away with yet another high end fave in the form of the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes*. This is perfect for volume and length, if you're into that false lash effect - then this is for you, and it's also super black, perfect!

Once the eyes are done I go in with concealer to clean up any fall out under the eyes, and to carve out my brows. I've used the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer since the beginning of time, and this definitely won't be changing anytime soon. It's simply the best!

2017 was the year I finally stepped, thought tentatively, onto the contour bandwagon, when I purchased the Fenty Beauty Match Stick in Truffle. This is such a wonderful product for beginners, as the applicator has perfect control and ease of use. Simply draw a line on the cheekbone and blend! Though some people have found these difficult to blend, I haven't personally found this issue - I simply blend as soon as it's applied, and if I find it a little difficult I just spray my brush with Fix+ (forever a staple in my makeup kit, fyi). Then I add some colour to my cheeks with my Nars Blush in Orgasm above my contour. Blush has become such a favourite of mine this year, and I don't really think you can beat the Nars selection! Have any of you got any suggestions of blushes I need to try? I definitely want to expand my collection in 2018!

So firstly I line my lips with the infamous 'Pillow Talk' Lipliner by Charlotte Tilbury*. I didn't understand how there could be soooo much fuss over a lipliner - that was until I tried it. It's a cult classic for a reason, folks! I think this is a perfect shade for any skin tone, and is just the best base for any nude lippie! I then followed up with MAC 'Velvet Teddy' on top because I thought it was the best shade for this look, but I do want to give a mention to the Lime Crime liquid lipsticks, because I've been wearing them non stop this year, and absolutely love them! I've also become obsessed with the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, I have a particular .... for 'Lolita'. I'll have a whole post dedicated to liquid lips up in the New Year, but I couldn't do my makeup roundup without mentioning these two beauties!

To finish up, I always add a little powder, and for a good couple of years now, the MAC mineralise skin finish in Medium Tan has been my fave. That was until the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish Powder* made an appearance. Ah, apparently this is an MUA favourite, and I can see why. It just looks SO flawless. I don't know how else to describe it! Far from making you look dusty or cakey as powder can sometimes do, for some reason it just makes your base look better! I absolutely love it!

And that's it, lovelies! My fave makeup bits from 2017! What new products have you discovered this year that you've loved? And equally, what have you tried that's been a disappointment? Let me know in the comments below!
