Hello, lovelies! Today I have another outfit post and a little trend report, throwing it back a decade or so with this 90s favourite accessory, and also jumping on the bandwagon of the neckerchief trend that social media has been awash with recently. For one so loyal to the mighty black jeans and t-shirt combo, (hey, what can I say? I'm stuck in my ways) adding details like this really do help to stop an outfit from being boring, hence my love for this trend.
Since I'm also serving you subtle western vibes with the neckerchief and buckle belt combo, and it just so happens to be the 4th July (coincidence or what? lol) I'd like to say Happy Independence Day to any American friends that may be reading this! Now I may not be decked out in red, white and blue, I think I'd feel a little treacherous of my beloved England! Though, given the shit show that is currently The United Kingdom (let me summarise: 2 Brexits - the EU and the footie, political turmoil, laughably awful prime ministerial candidates, and to top it all off, especially shitty British weather, Brilliant) I must say I don't currently feel as guilty temporarily offering my patriotism elsewhere lol!
I joke, but getting back to the point, the fashion world is seemingly loving the USA right now, as the Americana Trend seems to be looming large this S/S season, thought not being widely recognised as such. What with the dominance of cowboy-esque double buckle belts, denim, and fringe, or better yet, nail two trends in one with fringed hem denim! (I may have just got myself a pair of these, too!) I've even seen a fabulously striking pair of silver boots with red and blue details (I'll link them below, because they really are something!) This all harks back to the wild, wild west, folks! If you want to go to town a little more than I have with the trend, swap out the black bandana for red, the black tee for white, and black jeans for blue and there you have it, patriotic dressing at its finest!
The great things about the bandana/neckerchief? It can be used as, well, both a bandana and a neckerchief! Forever thankful for pieces that give me options! You could also get more creative and wear one as a belt (maybe you'd have to have a super tiny waist for that one!), but you could definitely loop it into one of your jean belt hoops. You could also have it draping from a front or back pocket, or tie it around the wrist as a cool, bracelet contraption. So there you have it! Endless options, and the best thing? A bandana is only going to set your back a couple of pounds. Don't you just love when you can cop on to one of the biggest trends for under a fiver?!
I'm totally on board with the neck accessory trend in general, in which we're seeing a tonne more 90s hits (always a good thing!). I may have just bought a bunch of chokers off of Asos. It seems it's also time for me to dig out my old tattoo choker....
What do you guys think of the neck accessories trend? Are you guys fans? Have you been channeling much of the Americana Trend? Let me know in the comments!
